The Asian giant WaSP, highly poisonous, is the largest in the world, with the size of a human thumb. Its Stinger, with about six millimeters long, carries enough poison to dissolve human tissue. And who is bitten by this bug can actually die of renal failure or anaphylactic shock â€" that's what unfortunately has happened in China.

The stories of farmers attacked by this insect that end up tragically are becoming common in Shaanxi Province in Northwestern China. In the past three months, these wasps killed 41 people and injured 1675. Ankang, a city in the southern province, seems to be the epicenter of the scourge. Wasps infest rural areas every year and, between 2002 and 2005, 36 villagers were stung to death. This year is the worst ever.

The species usually does not attack unless you feel that your nest is threatened â€" in this case, becomes fast and fierce, flying at a speed of 40 km/hour. These nests are made of tree trunks or underground areas, being extremely difficult to detect.

Both inhabitants as experts blame climate change for the scourge â€" last year was exceptionally warm, allowing a large number of wasps survive the winter. The fact that the insects were shaken by having gone through a period of drought and farmers are moving increasingly into the mountains, disturbing their nests, may also be exacerbating the situation. Besides all this, the wasps are attracted to bright colors and the smell of sweat and alcohol.

The Guardian added that some people have dedicated to ignite the nests evil darkens, once the wasps don't fly at night.

Two other cities in Shaanxi Hanzhong and Shangluo, also were hit by the plague, although the number of deaths recorded is significantly smaller. A swarm of Hornets attacked a primary school in mid-September, injuring 23 children and seven adults.
