There are genetically modified foods that are on your plate, every day, but go unnoticed. Vision Magazine has produced an article on the topic and, below, you can read the main conclusions â€" which, incidentally, should put us on alert.

Aspartame. Is a sweetener widely used in replacement of sugar and, in fact, an artificial chemical compound, made in the laboratory through the manipulation of various compounds. Can be found in thousands of products we consume daily: sodas, yogurts, chocolates, candy.

Refined oils. Are in almost all foods that contain vegetable fats. The corn, rapeseed, soybean, Palm, sunflower or peanut are usually mixed with edible oils and oils (except extra virgin) or processed food.

Cornstarch, corn syrup. Extracted from corn (much of this grain produced in the world are genetically modified), are present in products such as pasta, crackers, cereals, cookies, energy bars, pré-congelada food, drinks or flavored waters.

Margarine. Uses vegetable fats (rapeseed, soy, corn, Palm, sunflower, peanuts) purified and hydrogenated fats extracted from transgenic plants.

Cow's milk. Bovine somatropin (BST) is a genetically modified form of bovine growth hormone that causes an increase in the production of milk. Its use is banned in the European Union, but authorised in United States and Brazil

Sausage. It is a mixture of products and by-products of animal origin, but many brands use soya and genetically modified corn syrups.

Soybeans and derivatives. Soy is the main power supply solution for vegetarians and vegans, but 70% of its world production is genetically modified.
