Living near an airport can increase the risk of suffering STROKE

A study argues that living near an airport can increase the chances of dying victim of stroke, heart disease and circulatory diseases. This is because those who are exposed to high levels of noise caused by aircraft is up to one fifth more likely to need hospital treatment or of dying from these diseases.

Researchers claim that the noise can trigger a response to stress hormones, which increases the blood pressure disturbs sleep. Has already been requested further investigations, especially in case of night flights.

The study, conducted by Imperial College London and King's College London, involving 3.6 million people living near Heathrow Airport, in England. The data were compared the noise produced by aircraft during the day and night with the rates of hospitalization and mortality.

The analysis showed that the risk of living is 10% to 20% higher in areas with high levels of noise caused by aircraft-which cover about 70 thousand people â€" compared to quieter areas.

The researchers analyzed 2001 noise levels and hospital data between 2001 and 2005. Took into account other factors related to heart disease, such as social exclusion, ethnic composition, the road traffic noise, air pollution and lung cancer rates.

The study encompassed 12 London boroughs and nine districts outside the city, where the noise of aircraft exceeds 50 decibels.

"Our study raises important questions about the potential role of noise on cardiovascular health," stressed one of the authors of the study, Paul Elliott. However, the exact role that the noise has on health has not yet been set. Other factors are already known to increase the risk of heart disease â€" such as poor diet, smoking, lack of exercise, high blood pressure and diabetes.

Google transforms "lie" of 1 April in real technology

Google issued a patent application of checks of automobiles based on gestures. Although this type of systems is currently fairly basic and ineffective, the internet giant seeks to diversify the technology, making it possible to change the radio station or adjust the air conditioning with little more than a wave of the hand.

The Google Patent shows a system that uses a depth camera placed on the ceiling and a laser scanner that reads simple gestures as commands for the operation of the vehicle. In the same way as the autonomous driving technology can make the roads safer by reducing the accidents result from human error or careless driving, gesture controls could also produce their own road safety benefits.

The Inhbitat explains that instead of an encoding with buttons on doors or on the wheel, a simple nod of arms could be used to open or close a window and adjust the volume of the radio.

Ironically, Google pretended to have released two years ago Gmail Motion â€" April 1 joke which suggested that the company was developing a new language that would make it possible to interact with Gmail through body gestures. Now, with this patent, the idea doesn't sound so ridiculous.

Warmest years of the past will be the rule from 2047

From 2047 â€" more month, less month â€" the coolest year is still warmer than the warmest years of the past. Sounds confusing, but this is exactly what the scientist defends Camilo Mora, in an article published in the journal Nature.

The study, developed at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, explains that average temperatures will be warmer every year in various parts of the world, in relation to temperatures between 1860 and 2005.

According to the predictions of Camilo Mora, these climate changes will arrive more quickly to the tropics, putting more pressure on societies, on coral reefs (such as photo, on the Red Sea) and millions of people who consume fish and in the large forests of the world â€" including the lung Amazon.

"Back and think of the hottest and traumatic event I have ever experienced. What we're saying is that, quickly, this event will become normal, "continues the responsible.

The research is based on climate models and giant computer programs that seek to reproduce the physics of the climate system, predicting the future response to greenhouse gases.

If there is a global effort to control these emissions, these drastic temperatures may be delayed between 20 to 25 years. Despite the danger be just postponed, many scientists say that this quarter of a century is essential for humans to adapt to a warmer society â€" and to which new technologies will help us to further reduce future emissions.

"If current trends in carbon emissions continue, we will be pushing many ecosystems to climatic conditions that occurred for many millions of years," said Ken Caldeira, a researcher at the Carnegie Institution for Science climate, to The New York Times.
