New bike can be pedaling with their feet and hands
A designer created the first bike in the world to be pedaling with their feet and hands. The vehicle, known as Varibike, it resembles a regular bike, with traditional pedals, but has a set of cranks â" the rider rotates with the arms-which allow a movement easier and faster. The German Martin Kraiss, 43 years old, is the author of the project which will cost ⬠4,700 ($ 14,800). This allows the driver to use the entire body when cycling and make it faster than the others.Kraiss ventured in to realize that traditional bikes keeps the upper body static, without exercising. "Our goal was to create a bike that was conducted with the whole body and faster than a conventional bike," he says.A recent study conducted by New Mexico State University, USA, found that while the heart rate is the same with the movement of legs and arms simultaneously, the cyclist can reach 31% more power with the Varibike. Furthermore, the continuous energy production is greater, so the exercise becomes more effective.Aluminum bicycle weighs 15 Kg and is available in white, black and gold, in a single size. The creator asserts that, due to the higher energy production, it facilitates the climbs and speeding up.Kraiss reveals that the vehicle was not designed exclusively for professionals and that allows vary between different riding styles and alternatives. "It's incredibly fun to move the Varibike with the whole body," he says. The designer also created a static version of the vehicle, used for interior spaces and adapted with a tilting technology that allows the cyclist to move left or right, simulating the movements made outdoors. This version costs ⬠1,884 (R $ 5,912).
